This is patch version 1.01 for Avatar: The Game for PC.

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game's release date was in 2009. It is a third-person action game and is a prequel to the film. The developers were given a lot of leeway to develop the story as the saw fit. Originally, director James Cameron's daughter, Mary, conceived the movie's story.

This patch upgrades Avatar: The Game with several changes and fixes. This patch enhances the view mode in multiplayer. Furthermore, it fixes flickering and shading issues. Some players reported some vegetation detail problems with certain graphics cards. The patch has fixed these vegetation details along with the multi-monitor mode glitches.

The patch also fixes a bug that occurs when the player dies after the reviver timer. Water refraction now takes the "no bloom" setting into account. The War Room mini-game controls are smoother so that the updating occurs as expected. Task switching support is also improved.

The story involves a character called Able Ryder, who is male or female depending to the player's choice. The higher-ups have assigned Able to an area in Pandora and must battle Viperwolves. He or she eventually enters the alien "avatar" body. Playing as a Na'vi, the player will have to decide if the RDA strikes on the blue giants are acceptable or not. This is a crucial point in the game, and as such the game does not allow the player to return to the previous saves after reaching that checkpoint.

Avatar: The Game involves a lot of exploration and combat. The player gets to man mounted guns, drive a dune buggy through the jungle, and mow down lots of Viperwolves. As an avatar the player does battle with primitive weapons such as bows and knives.

The game features voice work by Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez and Giovanni Ribisi, all reprising their roles from the film. Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington were unable to take part in this game's development.

This PC version of the game features a special mode which allows the player to choose to fight for the RDA or the Na'vis which is not possible in most of the console versions. The game also establishes an experience point system and a leveling up process to increase Able's abilities as the game progresses.

The game is one of the first to feature outputting to a 3D-enabled screen similar to the movie experience. The effect is especially noticeable in the opening scenes when Able is looking out at the clouds.

Avatar: The Game is a prequel to one of the biggest movies of all time. It sold over 2.7 million copies world-wide and critics consider it a commercial success after a slow sales start. This patch smooths out the experience, allowing the player to play the game to its' fullest potential.

Pros:

Fixes a number of bugs and graphics issues

Enhances multiplayer

Cons:

At 170 MB, it is a bit on the big side for a patch.
